At one point this season, London Fletcher was missing tackles and leaving some to wonder how much he had left. Turns out he had enough to finish the season strong.

The 37-year-old Fletcher, despite battling a sprained ankle for much of the second half of the season, was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Month for December.

Fletcher finished the month with 51 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks as the Redskins went 5-0. He was named as a Pro Bowl alternate for the third straight season.

He’s the first Redskin to be named player of the month since running back Clinton Portis in 2008.

The Redskins continue to rest him during the week, as they did throughout their seven-game winning streak.
