For a team that seems uncertain about drafting a quarterback, the Cowboys have taken a keen interest in multiple members of this year's quarterback class. In this case, multiple means six.

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys have set up pre-draft visits with six quarterbacks: Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Paxton Lynch, Christian Hackenberg, Connor Cook, and Jacoby Brissett. All six will make the journey to the Cowboys' facility before the draft.

Two of those quarterbacks (Wentz and Goff) will require the Cowboys to pull the trigger with the fourth overall pick, while the rest should fall. Lynch and Cook could be gone by the time the Cowboys pick again (according to our mock drafters), but Hackenberg and Brissett are currently considered mid-to-late-round picks.

And those two might make the most sense for the Cowboys. That way they don't have to punt on taking an impact player in the first round -- one who can aid a Tony Romo-led team - and they can develop the quarterback behind Romo, giving the rookie a "Harvard degree" of quarterbacking, as Jerry Jones likes to say.

Romo, who'll turn 36 later this month, is coming off surgery on his collarbone after a season that saw him break his collarbone twice. He recently indicated that he'll be ready to participate in offseason activities, but the fragility of that bone, his age, and the events of last season (they went 1-11 without Romo) are all the evidence Jones needs of the Cowboys' quarterback needs.

Hackenberg remains an intriguing option for the Cowboys, namely because he was once considered an top NFL draft prospect before suffering from a disappointing end to his Penn State career. As Fox Sports reported, the Cowboys recently worked out Hackenberg, who fits the billing of a developmental quarterback with pro potential.
