Patrick Marleau has been chided for his lack of clutch ability in the postseason over his very successful career. Not any more, not after he won the game for the Sharks in overtime on Tuesday night.

Just after a long shift where the Sharks were pinned in their own zone for far too long, the Sharks got a bit of a counterpunch in the overtime and the only shot they got on net, this backhander from Marleau, went in. Just like that the series is 3-0 San Jose.

The shot itself was not a thing of beauty and it did appear that Jonathan Quick had a beat on the initial shot, or was at least trying to find it and was low enough to get it. However the shot on the way in hit the stick of Kings defenseman Slava Voynov and shot up and over the shoulder of Quick, who was in his usual low squat. And the celebration was on.

It was a much tighter game than we saw from the two in LA and Game 3 was all everybody expected before the series but the end result was still a Sharks win and now they will go for the sweep on Thursday in LA.
