Michal Rozsival: No longer on Chicago's books
Rozsival's contract with the Blackhawks expired this summer and he remains an unrestricted free agent, according to CapFriendly. The defenseman had been on long-term injured reserve with a concussion.
Rozsival hasn't played since the 2016-17 season, and even then, it was only for 22 games. His LTIR designation afforded the Blackhawks cap relief against the upper limit, but even without him, the Original Six club currently has $5.491 million of available cap space. Rozsival is unlikely to continue his playing career given his devastating injury.

Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival: Placed on LTIR
Rozsival (concussion) was placed on long-term injured reserve Monday, Tracey Myers of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
The 39-year-old defenseman only suited up for 22 contests last season, so this bit of news suggests we may not see him in an NHL uniform for quite some time. It wouldn't be surprising to see Rozsival hang up the skates given his lack of usage last year and the severity of his current injury (that required surgery on a bone in his face last April). That said, he'll miss a minimum of 10 games given his LTIR status, with more news to come likely near the end of October.

Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival: Fails physical
Rozsival (concussion) didn't pass his training camp physical, and thus is unable to participate at this time.
Rozsival was initially listed on the Blackhawks' preliminary training camp roster, which seemed to suggest he would be available at some point during camp, but this development suggests he may be in danger of missing the entirety of the preseason, and perhaps won't even be ready once the regular season gets underway Oct. 5 against Pittsburgh. Either way, the 39-year-old blueliner will probably only be in the lineup for around 20 games in 2017-18, so he won't be needed right away.

Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival: Expected to participate in training camp
Rozsival (face) is listed on Chicago's training camp roster in advance of the 2017-18 season.
Rozsival underwent a procedure to repair a facial bone in April, and according to Mark Lazerus of the Chicago-Sun Times, he's reportedly still feeling the effects of the corresponding concussion he sustained, so it isn't clear how much the veteran defender will be involved in training camp activities. However, his inclusion on the training camp roster suggests the Blackhawks believe he should make a full recovery and be ready to contribute as a depth defender in 2017-18. The Slovakian will likely only log around 20 games this season, a role that will keep him completely off the fantasy radar in all formats.

Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival: Undergoing procedure Tuesday
Rozsival will undergo a procedure to repair a facial bone Wednesday and is out indefinitely, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Rozsival sustained the injury when Anaheim's Nick Ritchie punched him in the face April 6, and he now appears to be in danger of missing extended time. The veteran blueliner likely would have been a healthy scratch for most of Chicago's first-round matchup with the Predators anyway, but nonetheless, the team will miss having him as a depth option during his recovery.

Rozsival (upper body) won't be in the lineup for Saturday's regular-season finale against LA, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Rozsival has only drawn into 22 games as the Blackhawks' seventh defenseman this season, so his absence shouldn't impact any fantasy owners' lineups. The Slovakian defender may not dress for any of Chicago's playoff games unless one of the team's top-six defensemen sustains an injury.

Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival: Day-to-day with upper-body injury
Rozsival has been labeled day-to-day with an upper-body injury, Eric Lear of Blackhawks TV reports.
Rozsival likely sustained his injury when Nick Ritchie walloped him in the face during Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Ducks. Ritchie was suspended for the play and now it appears that Rozsival is in danger of missing game action as a direct result of it. Should the 38-year-old have to sit out Saturday's game in Los Angeles, Brent Seabrook (rest) or Duncan Keith (rest) would likely have to draw back in.

Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival: Agrees to new deal
Rozsival signed a one-year extension worth $650,000 on Tuesday, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reports.
After signing the veteran defenseman, the Blackhawks now meet the roster requirements for this summer's upcoming expansion draft. Since initially joining Chicago in 2012-13, Rozsival has served predominantly as a depth defenseman and has played in only 16 games this season. With a cap hit of less than $950,000, Rozsival can be waived without a salary cap penalty. That said, because the contract carries a favorable cap hit for the team, it's not out of the realm of possibility that Rozsival is kept around for another full season.

Blackhawks' Michal Rozsival: Activated from injured reserve
Rozsival (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Sunday, Chris Kuc of Chicago Tribune reports.
Rozsival may not be 100 percent recovered yet from the lower-body injury that resulted in him landing on IR in late January, but with the Blackhawks' next game not coming until next Saturday against the Oilers, it's conceivable he could be fully healthy by then. Regardless, the 38-year-old provides more of an impact in the locker room than on the ice at this stage in his career. He's totaled one point in his 14 appearances on the season.

The veteran defenseman blocked a shot in practice Thursday and will be shelved for the next few weeks as a result. The move was made retroactive to Jan. 25 and all we know about Rozsival's injury is that he was "banged up" during Wednesday's practice and isn't expected to miss much time, according to several Blackhawks beat writers. Either way, the veteran defenseman has logged exactly one assist while averaging 15:12 of ice time in 14 appearances this season, so his absence isn't likely to affect many fantasy owners. Gustav Forsling was called up to Chicago in a corresponding move.
