  • Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Buries overtime winning goal for record

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/20/17) Ovechkin scored the game-winning goal in overtime and recorded seven shots during Friday's 4-3 win against Detroit. As noted by theScore, he moved past Jaromir Jagr to become the all-time leader in OT goals and is now up to 20 of those over his illustrious career.

Make it 10 goals through eight games for Ovechkin. It's an encouraging start for No. 8, as he finished with just 33 tallies in 2016-17. As the go-to shooter on the dangerous No. 1 power-play unit, it wouldn't be surprising if Ovechkin bounces back in a big way this year.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Adds another goal in win

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/13/17) Ovechkin scored his ninth goal of the year with a second-period tally on the power play in Friday's 5-2 win over New Jersey.

Ovechkin also picked up an assist on a Nicklas Backstrom goal to bring his point total to 10 for the season. He's continuing to make his fantasy owners very happy every time he takes the ice.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Lights lamp again

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/12/17) Ovechkin continued his blazing start with a goal in a 3-2 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

At eight goals in three games, there's not much that needs to be said. Ovechkin won't keep this pace up all year, but if he's on your team, you're loving life in the fast lane with Gr8.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Named NHL's First Star

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/9/17) Ovechkin has been named the NHL's "First Star" for the week ending Oct. 8.

The 32-year-old winger is off to a virtually unprecedented start to the season, becoming the first player to have hat tricks in consecutive games to start the season since 1917-18. It would be unwise to think he can keep up such a torrid pace, but he's certainly well on his way to eclipsing last season's 33-goal campaign and could again reach the 50-goal mark if he can stay healthy.

Capitals' Alex Ovechkin: Four-goal game makes seven in two outings

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/7/17) Ovechkin scored four goals in Saturday's 6-1 win over Montreal.

Whoa -- that's seven tallies in two games. "Alexander the Gr8" has something to prove after a 33-goal season last year, and he's on a rampage. Incredible. There's nothing else to say.
