WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Elimination Chamber participants look to build momentum

Brock Lesnar was one of the few Elimination Chamber participants to have a good night

On the final edition of Raw before the WWE roster heads to Saudi Arabia for the Elimination Chamber event, building momentum was the name of the game. For some, such as Brock Lesnar, powerful messages were delivered. For others, a rough night was in store.

Lesnar opened the show with a display of physical dominance over fellow Elimination Chamber participant Austin Theory. Riddle and AJ Styles suffered setbacks of different varieties before the night was over. Seth Rollins, however, picked up a big in-ring victory in the main event to head toward the Chamber with a more positive mindset.

Elimination Chamber participants look to build momentum

Bobby Lashley and MVP opened the show with an in-ring promo. This would eventually bring out Seth Rollins, Riddle, Austin Theory and AJ Styles. After the five men exchanged words, Brock Lesnar made his way to the ring. Things predictably broke down quickly before Lesnar put an end to things with an F-5 on Theory.

United States Championship – Damian Priest (c) def. AJ Styles via pinfall to retain the title. Priest avoided the Phenomenal Forearm that allowed Styles to pick up a win the previous week, countering with a sunset flip for the win.

Seth Rollins def. Randy Orton via pinfall after a stomp. Orton had skipped the RK-Broga party Riddle had thrown -- and that was eventually crashed by Alpha Academy -- choosing instead to focus on preparation for his match with Rollins. Orton had Rollins down after an RKO when Alpha Academy's music hit and Chad Gable and Otis began to run to the ring. Orton left the ring to help Riddle, who had attacked Gable from behind, returning to the ring just to slide into a stomp from Rollins for the finish.

The Elimination Chamber participants probably could have stood to shine a bit more than they did on the final Raw before the upcoming event. Theory was manhandled by Lesnar, which is understandable, but Styles ate a clean pin and Rollins was down and out had it not been for Alpha Academy. In addition, Riddle spent the night throwing a toga party that was shown in small pieces throughout the show before Gable and Otis also took him out. Still, the Elimination Chamber is about the chaos of the match and no one believes anyone is in play to take the title off Lashley other than Lesnar. Grade: B-

What else happened on WWE Raw?

• The Street Profits def. Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler via pinfall when Montez Ford hit Roode with a frog splash. Tommoso Ciampa was on commentary and brawled with Ziggler ahead of their clash at NXT.
• Omos def. The Hurt Business via pinfall with a chokebomb on Cedric Alexander, winning the handicap match easily.
• Lita and Becky Lynch signed their contract for Elimination Chamber. Lynch looked disheveled and was emotional, begging Lita not to sign the contract for their match for Lynch's Raw women's title. Lita signed.
• Bianca Belair won a gauntlet match to determine the final entrant into the Elimination Chamber. Belair won the match by eliminating Rhea Ripley. Prior to Belair's win, Ripley had defeated Nikki A.S.H., Liv Morgan and Doudrop.
• 24/7 Championship – Reggie def. Dana Brooke (c) via pinfall to win the title. The two were out to dinner when R-Truth, Tamina and Akira Tozawa tried to ambush Brooke. After Reggie helped make the save, Brooke kissed him on the cheek and then said he'd make some woman happy someday. Reggie responded to being friend-zoned by rolling her up to win the title in the middle of the restaurant.
• Alpha Academy def. The Mysterios via pinfall when Chad Gable rolled through a crossbody from Dominick Mysterio to get the pin. After the match, The Miz and Maryse, who'd been on commentary, attacked The Mysterios.
• Alexa Bliss became the final entrant in the women's Elimination Chamber match. Bliss was shown continuing her post-Lilly therapy sessions, announcing at the conclusion of the segment that she was the sixth woman in the match.
