WWE SmackDown results, recap, grades: Brock Lesnar takes a steel chair to everyone

Roman Reigns of The Bloodline on WWE SmackDown pro wrestling news
WWE

Brock Lesnar continued to be a workplace hazard on WWE SmackDown. Lesnar laid waste to lounge furniture, Roman Reigns' vehicle and countless security guards one week before WrestleMania 38.

Lesnar waited patiently for Reigns' arrival for most of Friday's episode, casually breaking everything in sight and racking up fines. The WWE champion has been on the hunt for Reigns ever since the universal champion drew blood at the conclusion of WWE's Madison Square Garden house show on March 5.

This week's entry from the blue brand also included two matches featuring WWE Intercontinental champion Ricochet, a fatal four-way and the return of a previously injured fan-favorite.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Barclays Enter in Brooklyn, New York.

Brock Lesnar can't stop breaking things

The show kicked off with Brock Lesnar being interviewed outside of Roman Reigns' family lounge. Lesnar said that he paid fines and purchased a couple of vehicles to make up for last week's path of destruction. Lesnar also revealed that he was ordered by management to avoid physical contact with Reigns unless provoked. Lesnar opted to spend his time in Reigns' locker room, smashing a glass table and wine glasses with his feet, and tossing a bottle of wine across the room.

Later in the evening, Reigns and Heyman cut a promo from their limousine. Reigns explained how the universal champion and his special counsel were handling business around town. Reigns warned Lesnar that he should exit the family lounge before "The Tribal Chief" arrived.

Interviewer Kayla Braxon suggested Lesnar leave the room, to which the former UFC champion responded by tossing a desk lamp.

Reigns and Heyman finally arrived inside the Barclay's Center at the final quarter of SmackDown. Heyman expressed his terror, but Reigns assured his special counsel that they would be fine. Reigns and Heyman entered the ring in search of Lesnar. Cue the WWE champion, who had departed from Reigns' locker room and made his way over to Reigns' vehicle. Lesnar took a pickaxe to the windows and hood of Reigns' Suburban before entering the ring from the crowd.

Lesnar grabbed a chair from ringside; however, WWE security stood between Lesnar and the ring. Lesnar lept off the announcer's table, clobbered the security personnel with the steel chair and beelined for the ring. Reigns, Heyman and The Usos promptly bailed and headed backstage. Lesnar continued beating up more security guards with steel chairs.

The show closed with Reigns backstage, insisting that Lesnar would acknowledge him as the undisputed and unified WWE world champion.

Points are deserved for weaving a storyline through multiple segments of a show. That sort of commitment is always appreciated, especially for a champion vs. champion match main eventing WrestleMania. Unfortunately, the entire thing felt like a rehash of what WWE presented last week. The Bloodline avoids Lesnar, Lesnar destroys things. Rinse and repeat. This segment would have played out much better if Lesnar finally got his hands on Reigns or if The Bloodline got some measure of momentum back from the WWE champion. Instead, it was more of the same. Grade: C
