Liberty @ Brigham Young
Current Records: Liberty 8-5; Brigham Young 10-3
What to Know
The Brigham Young Cougars and the Liberty Flames will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. ET Saturday at SimpliFI Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. These two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.
It looks like the Cougars must have gotten on Santa's naughty list since the team didn't end up with the win they were expected to receive on Thursday. They fell in a 69-67 heartbreaker to the Vanderbilt Commodores. Guard Spencer Johnson wasn't much of a difference maker for BYU; Johnson finished with 11 points on 5-for-13 shooting in his 27 minutes on the court.
Speaking of close games: it was close but no cigar for the Flames as they fell 79-76 to the Stanford Cardinal on Thursday. Guard Darius McGhee did his best for Liberty, finishing with 41 points (a whopping 54% of their total).
BYU is the favorite in this one, with an expected 8.5-point margin of victory. Those burned by picking them against the spread on Thursday might want to keep in mind that the squad has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
Both teams will surely be fighting tooth and nail to get back into the win column after losses this week. We'll see which team satisfies their hunger and which team leaves with an empty stomach.
