ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) Donte Clark scored seven of his 18 points in the last 2:39 and Derrick Bruce hit the winning 3-pointer from the corner with five seconds remaining as Texas Southern rallied to defeat Mississippi Valley State 72-71 on Saturday.

Demontrae Jefferson led Texas Southern (8-18, 8-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) with 22 points, Bruce added 17.

MVSU (2-25, 2-12) had taken an eight-point lead on a Jordan Evans 3-pointer with three minutes remaining, but Clark answered by crashing to the hoop for an alley-oop pass and a score, was fouled and converted the three-point play. Clark made four free throws on Texas Southern's next two possessions, pulling the Tigers to 71-69 with 38 seconds left.

MVSU was dribbling down the clock when Evans was whistled for a five-second violation, the turnover giving Texas Southern possession with 15 seconds to play, setting up Bruce's winning trey.

Dante Scott nailed a corner 3 for the Delta Devils, but the shot came after time expired. Scott led MVSU with 24 points, Evans added 15.
