Texas was ready to fight for a win against Baylor to try and keep its NCAA tournament hopes alive. And the way these teams dislike each other it didn't take much to incite actual fighting in the Longhorns' 61-59 overtime win Monday night.

>> Palm: Texas needed this one

Baylor led most of the second half but could not pull away, then Texas, led by Prince Ibeh on the defensive end, did a great job of making the Bears uncomfortable near the end of regulation to erase the deficit in the final minute and force overtime.

Then, in overtime, Isaiah Taylor and Royce O'Neale got tangled up while diving for a loose ball near the sideline. O'Neale appeared to roll on top of Taylor, who reacted by tossing O'Neale off of him. That's when the benches cleared, resulting in the ejection of seven players.

Baylor lost John Heard, Ishmail Wainwright, Johnathan Motley while Texas sent Kendal Yancy, Connor Lammert, Prince Ibeh and Cameron Ridley to the locker room.

The whole skirmish took a while to sort out, but when it cleared Baylor hit a 3 to tie the score at 59. Texas got the ball last and after Jevan Felix dribbled out most of the clock he passed it to Isaiah Taylor in rhythm for a runner with 4.4 seconds left.

Kenny Chery rushed the ball to the rim on the other end but his attempt was blocked by Myles Turner and the Longhorns picked up a much-needed quality victory to keep them in the conversation for an NCAA tournament bid.

Texas (18-12, 7-10 Big 12) got 12 points from Demarcus Holland, while Taurean Prince led Baylor (22-8, 10-7 Big 12) with 17.
