Through 3 Quarters

The SMU Mustangs are just one quarter away from delivering their fans the win they've been expecting all week. It's looking more and more like their high-powered offense is just too much for the Tulane Green Wave as SMU lead 38-19.

The Mustangs have been led by QB Tanner Mordecai, who so far has passed for two TDs and 376 yards on 38 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. QB Michael Pratt has led the way so far for Tulane, as he has passed for three TDs and 185 yards on 16 attempts.

the Green Wave have lost 100% of the time when they were down heading into the fourth quarter this season, so this one seems just about wrapped up

Who's Playing

Tulane @ No. 21 SMU

Current Records: Tulane 1-5; SMU 6-0

What to Know

The Tulane Green Wave are 0-6 against the SMU Mustangs since November of 2015, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Thursday. Tulane's week off comes to an end as they meet up with SMU at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The Mustangs will be strutting in after a win while Tulane will be stumbling in from a loss.

The contest between Tulane and the Houston Cougars two weeks ago was not particularly close, with Tulane falling 40-22. QB Michael Pratt had a memorable game, but not in the way you want to be remembered: despite two touchdowns, he fumbled the ball once.

Meanwhile, it was all tied up 21-21 at the half for SMU and the Navy Midshipmen two weeks ago, but SMU stepped up in the second half for a 31-24 victory. SMU's WR Reggie Roberson Jr. filled up the stat sheet, catching five passes for one TD and 100 yards. One of the most thrilling moments was Roberson Jr.'s 66-yard TD reception in the first quarter.

Tulane have to know they'll be fighting an uphill battle given the 14 point spread they are up against. Those sticking with them against the spread have guts, to put it politely, as the squad has let down bettors in their past four games.

Tulane is now 1-5 while the Mustangs sit at 6-0. Two defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Green Wave are 242nd worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 32 on the season. SMU has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 183rd most passing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up ten on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
