Chris Martin is no longer a Kansas Jayhawk. The school announced that the defensive lineman was dismissed from the team on Monday, a few weeks after Martin was arrested on charges related to a robbery.
“Due to recent incidents Chris Martin was involved with, he was given a list of stipulations he was required to meet for him to remain a member of the Kansas Football team," said Kansas coach Charlie Weis in a statement. "Because he did not follow some of those stipulations we have dismissed him from the team.”
Martin was booked on suspicion of aggravated robbery, conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery and kidnapping, according to the report of his arrest.
Chris Martin began his college career as a five-star recruit out of Oakland, Calif. After originally committing to Notre Dame, Martin flipped his committment to California. However, Martin transferred to Florida only five months after signing day in 2010. Martin would then leave Florida after only one year following a marijuana arrest. He then spent a year playing on the junior college level before ending up at Kansas with Charlie Weis, who had originally recruited him to Notre Dame before he was fired.
Martin has never played a down of football on the FBS level.
