Dabo Swinney re-connected with an old teammate by offering his son a scholarship. (USATSI)

Dabo Swinney's connection to Alabama football are well-documented. His college football career started as a player a Crimson Tide walk-on and his coaching career started in Tuscaloosa as a graduate assistant. During his time as a player at Alabama, Swinney got some help from fullback Kevin Turner, a player known as "the Anvil."

Rachel Baribeau, of GridironNow.com, wrote a fantastic profile of Turner -- it is absolutely worth your time to read the entire thing -- that includes a recent development in the relationship between Swinney and the Turner family.

Turner, diagnosed with ALS in 2010, has been fighting for his life, currently has a ventilator and uses a feeding tube. He welcomed Dabo Swinney into his company in the last week only to find out that his son, Nolan Turner, was about to get a full ride to play for the Clemson Tigers

According to the profile, Nolan Turner's plan was to be a preferred walk-on at Alabama or Troy. When offered a chance to play in the secondary at Clemson, he committed on the spot.
