Kottaras was released by the Giants on Thursday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Kottaras was hitting .155/.290/.224 with one home run and six RBI in 23 games for Triple-A Sacramento this season. The Giants decided to release the 33-year-old catcher after he agreed to a minor league contract with the team in the offseason. Kottaras hasn't played in the majors since 2014 and could be nearing the end of the road after only playing in 27 major-league games in the past three years.
