Volquez has been named the Marlins' starter for Opening Day, Joe Capozzi of The Palm Beach Post reports.

The offseason acquisition will open the season as the staff ace, despite posting a 5.37 ERA and allowing 23 home runs last season with the Royals. Nonetheless, Volquez has 12 years of major league experience on his side and has started at least 32 games in each of the past five seasons. The right-hander is a risky draft pick given his recent performance, but certainly provides a steady source of innings.
