Dietz filled in for the injured P.K. Subban (neck) in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Wild. He had one shot and four hits in 13:01 of ice time.
Dietz was called up from the AHL on Friday after Subban's scary incident, which turned out to be a non-serious neck injury. The 22-year-old Dietz is not being asked to take Subban's minutes nor supply the offense that Montreal will be missing. He didn't look out of place Saturday and, given the nature of injuries besetting the roster, Dietz was in a comfort zone lining up with several players he skated with in St. John's.
