Smith agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Berlin Eisbaren (DEL) on Thursday.
Smith has logged just one game in the NHL, instead spending the bulk of his post WHL career in the AHL with various teams. Without an NHL deal on the table, the Edmonton native will take his first crack at international hockey.
