Week 19 Fantasy Stockwatch

Wondering what has gotten into Peter Mueller and Derek Roy or what's gone wrong with Ray Emery and Todd Bertuzzi? Our Mihai Cercel answers those questions and more in his latest Fantasy Stockwatch.

Each week during the season, we'll survey the Fantasy Hockey landscape and provide you with a list of players whose Fantasy value has increased or decreased over the course of the past week.

	Derek Roy, C, Buffalo The Sabres second line center has turned it on in the latter part of January and now into February. Roy has points in six of his last eight games. He has scored six goals, including a hat trick on Jan. 18 in Buffalo's 10-1 win over Atlanta. Roy also has six assists to match the six goals during the eight-game stretch. He has been more consistent than in the earlier part of the season.
	Ray Emery, G, Ottawa The Senators goalie is not having a very good season. He has been missing some practices, fought with a teammate and thrown tantrums for not starting games. But the problem is that when he did start and was on the ice he has not helped his team very much. Emery is without a win in his last five appearances, although to be fair, the slump was preceded by three straight wins. Emery is just 8-8-3 this season and has been playing more of a backup role to Martin Gerber.
	Peter Mueller, C, Phoenix The Coyotes rookie is having a fine season and seems to be taking it to higher levels as the season progresses. He just scored his second NHL hat trick on Feb. 5 and has six goals in the last five games. Taking it even further, Mueller has nine goals to go with six assists in the last 10 games. He is having a well-balanced first season with 19 goals and 18 assists to this point and if he continues at this pace I would consider Mueller a long-term keeper.
	Rob Blake, D, Los Angeles This quality defenseman is owned in some 74 percent of Fantasy leagues, but that won't do any good for at least the next couple of weeks. Blake is out with a fractured left ankle, an injury he sustained on Jan. 15 when he blocked a shot, but continued to play for a few more games through the pain. Blake is one of the better defensemen on the power play when on the ice. He has 26 points this season.
	Jere Lehtinen, RW, Dallas Looks like the right winger is coming around after missing a huge part of the season with an abdominal injury. He has already found his scoring touch in just his third game back and also picked up an assist in his first game on Feb. 1. Lehtinen led the Stars with 26 goals last season for his seventh 20-goal season in Dallas. While he will not reach that mark again this season, he might still be able to get to the 20-goal mark if he gets hot down the stretch. Lehtinen has seven goals and 14 assists.
	Dustin Penner, LW, Edmonton Penner has already been a disappointment for the Oilers this season and the loss of Shawn Horcoff for the rest of the campaign is not likely to help matters. It remains to be seen how much production Penner will have on the top line now with Marty Reasoner and Ales Hemsky. He has just one goal in the last five games and 16 goals for the season.
	Brandon Dubinsky, C, N.Y. Rangers He only plays on the checking line, the third line, but he sure has been outstanding for the Rangers lately. Dubinsky has two goals in the last three games and five goals and four assists in the last 10 games. With nine goals and 14 helpers this season, Dubinsky has been an impact player even though the Rangers have played poorly recently.
	Jiri Hudler, C, Detroit The Red Wings keep winning and dominating the league, but no thanks to Hudler. A lot more was expected from the third-year Czech native, but he just has not been able to produce. Hudler has zero goals in nine straight games, and he actually has just one assist in that span. He only has one tally in the last 17 games going back to Dec. 29. That says it all even though he has 11 goals for the season. It's time for another Fantasy option until he figures out what is wrong with his game.
	Braydon Coburn, D, Philadelphia One of the Flyers in-form defensemen, Coburn has made things happen for his team. Coburn has points in six of his last eight games, scoring two goals and assisting six times. For the time being he is clearly over the rough patch he went through in December and most of January when he did not score a goal in 17 games. Coburn averages some 20 minutes of ice time per game and is good for four goals this season and 20 assists. Perhaps the most impressive part of his second NHL season is the plus-14 in the plus/minus category.
	Todd Bertuzzi, RW, Anaheim While the big forward had a nice little points streak going in mid-January, that type of production has gone flat since the 20th. Bertuzzi has not found the net in seven games and has a mere two assists during that stretch. It's worth pointing out that the Ducks have been struggling just as bad in that span, losing six of the seven games Bertuzzi has not scored. Sometimes a player goes the same way a team does.
