Hedman (undisclosed) was never able to return to action before the Lightning were defeated in the playoffs. Hedman suited up in just two of the final eight games of the season due to an undisclosed injury. The Swede will enter the fourth year of his eight-year contract extension he signed in 2016, having produced 12 goals and 54 points this campaign. Following the strong showing, the 28-year-old is up for the coveted Norris Trophy for the third year in a row. Just two years removed from a 72-point showing, Hedman will likely use the offseason to get healthy before readying for a potential bounce-back year in 2019-20.
Hedman (undisclosed) was announced as a finalist for the 2018-19 Norris Trophy on Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. The 28-year-old Swede has now been a Norris finalist for three straight seasons, winning the coveted award last year. Hedman's campaign ended in disappointing fashion though, as Tampa Bay was swept in the first round while he watched Games 3 and 4 from the press box with an injury. He finished the regular season with 12 goals and 54 points in 70 contests.
Hedman (undisclosed) won't be in the lineup for Tuesday's Game 4 against Columbus. Hedman tried to play through his undisclosed injury during Games 1 and 2, but it clearly affected his play, as he went scoreless while posting a minus-2 rating in back-to-back home losses. Coach Jon Cooper decided to keep the Swedish blueliner out of the lineup for Sunday's Game 3 in hopes it'd give him time to recover ahead of Game 4, but Hedman's obviously still ailing. The reigning Norris Trophy winner will have to hope that his team will be able to steal a win on the road Tuesday to give him an opportunity to return to action Friday for Game 5.
Head coach Jon Cooper said Monday that Hedman (undisclosed) is doubtful to play in Tuesday's Game 4 against the Blue Jackets. Things couldn't get much worse for the Lightning after going down 3-0 in the series Sunday. Hedman was forced to miss Game 3 with an undisclosed injury, and could very likely miss Game 4. More information should become available closer to puck drop.
Hedman (undisclosed) will not be in Sunday's lineup for Game 3 against Columbus, Joe Smith of The Athletic reports. The Lightning were already without Nikita Kucherov (suspension) and this won't make things any easier. It's unclear what Hedman is dealing with or if he'll be available for Game 4 on Tuesday.
