Rickie Fowler gave his mom the most unique Mother's Day present possible on Sunday at the Players Championship. She almost wasn't there to receive it.

Here's Sean Martin of PGATour.com on his his mother and sister almost missed his greatest moment on the PGA Tour:

Lynne and Taylor, who both work for Rickie, had lunch with him at TPC Sawgrass before leaving the course in the afternoon. They went to a dog park for about an hour before heading to the airport, which is approximately 45 minutes from the course. When the Fowlers arrived at the airport, text messages began to inform them that Rickie was making a move up the leaderboard.

“(Our bags) are probably on their way to San Diego,” Lynne said. She has been present outside the ropes at tournaments since Rickie’s days in junior golf. Rickie’s middle name, Yutaka, is the name of Lynne’s father. Fowler even eschewed his traditional orange Sunday outfit to wear some pink in honor of Mother’s Day.

Fowler's sister apparently drive and looked determined to make it back to the course (which she did).

"I made it worth their while," Fowler said. Yes, he did.
