As many people know, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma as a teenager. Rizzo underwent six months of chemotherapy, and has been in remission since. He's enjoyed a highly successful and public life since, yet he continues to take his role as a survivor seriously.

To wit, Rizzo was on hand on Tuesday at Lurie Children's Hospital after donating some $3.5 million to fund research. Rizzo had the 18th floor of the hospital named in his honor, and later gave a speech, during which he became emotional (hat tip to People):

On any given day, there's plenty of reminders that baseball isn't the most important thing in life. It's nice to see individuals like Rizzo recognize that, and use their blessings to help others.
