Mets manager Terry Collins was taken to the hospital prior to Sunday's game, assistant GM John Ricco told reporters. Collins was not feeling well about 30 minutes before first pitch.

The team has not provided any other details, though Ricco did say Collins was alert. He's been sent for tests as a precaution.

Bench coach Dick Scott managed the Mets during their series finale against the Brewers on Sunday (MIL 5, NYM 3). After the game, Ricco told reports Collins has been admitted to the hospital and will remain overnight for observation.

The Mets have an off day Monday. Ricco said it's still too early to know whether Collins will be able to return in time to manage their series opener against the visiting Pirates on Tuesday.

Collins, 67, is the oldest manager in baseball and is in his sixth season with the Mets. New York is 428-443 (.491) under his watch, though the Mets won 90 games and the NL pennant last season. Collins has previously managed the Astros and Angels.
