Padres starter Josh Johnson, who is coming off Tommy John surgery, will begin a rehab stint Friday with Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
If that appearance goes smoothly, Johnson will pitch another inning for the same team Monday.
Johnson has not pitched in a major league game since the summer of 2013. He has not completed a season without a major injury since 2012.
