Major League Baseball wrapped up its 2020 amateur draft on Thursday night. The spread of the novel coronavirus required the draft to be held virtually instead of in Omaha, Nebraska alongside the College World Series. The owners' desire to slash costs, meanwhile, led to the draft being shortened from 40 rounds to five.

With the No. 14 overall pick of the draft, the Texas Rangers selected Justin Foscue, second baseman out of Mississippi State. The Rangers had a different draft than their peers, and CBS Sports experts graded them with a D. Here's why:

The Rangers have a knack for going off the beaten path and they did it again this year. First rounder Nick Foscue can really hit, but he came off the board about half-a-round earlier than expected. Second rounder Evan Carter, a high school outfielder from Tennessee, was not among Baseball America's top 500 (!) draft prospects. Talk about a surprise pick. Third rounder Tekoah Roby has an interesting enough arm. The Rangers zig when everyone else zags. Nothing wrong with that, but it makes it tough to evaluate.

Below you'll find a draft tracker for the Texas Rangers.
