  • Royals' Chase Vallot: Healthy heading into March

Vallot (undisclosed) went 1-for-2 with a double during Wednesday's victory over the Reds. Vallot finished the 2017 campaign with an undisclosed injury but looks to be fully healthy after appearing in three straight Cactus League games. The catcher slashed .231/.380/.438 with 12 home runs and 37 RBI in 89 games with High-A Wilmington last season but a strikeout rate of 35.8 percent prohibited the 21-year-old from earning a promotion to the next level.

  • Royals' Chase Vallot: Smacks 12 home runs in first High-A campaign

Vallot finished his first season with High-A Wilmington slashing .231/.380/.438 with 12 home runs and 127 strikeouts over 89 games and 281 at-bats. The catcher's season ended prematurely after an undisclosed injury sidelined him on July 27. Despite playing in just 89 games, Vallot hammered out the second-most homers on the Blue Rocks, and owned the team's highest OPS among players with 125-plus at-bats. A massive strikeout rate plagued Vallot, and he'll certainly need to show more plate discipline before ascending through the minor leagues.

  • Royals' Chase Vallot: Strikeouts galore at High-A

Vallot, 20, is hitting .217/.349/.418 with eight home runs and 28 RBI through 57 games for High-A Wilmington. Vallot has fanned an astounding 83 times in those 57 games, struggling to make contact at this level. He does possess some thunder in his bat, but thus far those moments have been few and far between. As Vallot is rather suspect as a receiver as well, the 20-year-old backstop certainly appears to have his work cut out for him.

Vallot is hitting .146/.280/.195 since coming off the DL on July 6. Before going on the DL with an undisclosed injury, Vallot was hitting .287/.393/.531 and getting some prospect love. With no available information on his injury, it's tough to know what could still be bothering him.

  • Royals' Chase Vallot: Returns for Low-A Lexington.

Vallot has returned to action for Low-A Lexington after missing a couple weeks with an undisclosed ailment. Vallot is one of the rare catching prospects in the lower levels with enough offensive potential to be worth monitoring in dynasty leagues. He has eight home runs in 43 games as a 19-year-old at Low-A, while also boasting a .287 average and .393 OBP. It will likely be a slow trek up through the Royals' system, as it is with most catching prospects, but the time to grab him in deeper dynasty leagues is near.

  • Royals' Chase Vallot: Assigned to Rookie League after hard fall

Vallot was assigned to the AZL Royals and listed as day-to-day last Thursday after taking a hard fall in a game with Single-A Lexington, Jeff Patterson of the Kansas City Star reports. The demotion is simply a precaution for Vallot, who has been on a tear in Single-A this season with a .289 average and 29 RBI. The 19-year-old is expected to return to Lexington soon, seeing as the AZL Royals don't begin their season until June 21.
