Earlier this week, Rudy Gay said he was unhappy with how the Sacramento Kings have communicated with him and Vlade Divac responded by saying Gay has his phone number if he wants to talk. Since then, the two have had a conversation, Gay told ABC10's Sean Cunningham:

"I have talked to Vlade," Gay said from his Nike Skills Academy at Hardwood Palace in Rocklin. "I can't say since Monday stuff has changed, but I just feel like we have a little bit of time to start changing things."

...

Gay described his conversation with Divac as a positive one and said he appreciated that he would take his call.

"At this point in my career I just want to be happy," said Gay. "I talked to Vlade and we're trying to make that happen."

...

"Last year, it's like they pulled the carpet out from under me, a little bit," Gay admitted. "I felt like I was in jail - like I was hindered. But, I can't sit back and let that happen anymore."

Rudy Gay with the Kings
Rudy Gay is still a King for now. USATSI

The Kings were a disaster last season, and they plan to be less of a disaster under new coach Dave Joerger. Gay is 29, though, and if he's not in their long-term plans, it makes sense that he'd prefer to play somewhere he is wanted. In his previous interview with Sactown Royalty's Blake Ellington, he did not sound upset that Sacramento had talked about trading him. He sounded upset that the front office was not open with him about it.

Gay could still be on the Kings' roster when training camp begins, but it doesn't seem like the two sides are suddenly on the same page. Here's an educated guess on where this goes from here: Divac will continue to try to find Gay a new home, but he won't actually make a trade unless he feels like it makes the team better. Until that happens, the two of them will try to play nice.
