Before the Milwaukee Bucks can even get to training camp next week, it looks like they're dealing with a pretty serious injury. The team announced Wednesday that wing Khris Middleton has suffered a torn hamstring. The injury will require surgery and he's expected to miss six months. The surgery will happen next week. From the Bucks:

Milwaukee Bucks guard Khris Middleton suffered a left hamstring injury in preseason workouts that will require surgery, General Manager John Hammond announced today. Middleton is expected to be sidelined for approximately six months, with surgery planned in the next week.

"We're obviously disappointed for Khris and our team, but injuries are an unfortunate part of the game," said Hammond. "We'll rely on our overall roster depth to help us while Khris is out for a significant period of the season."

This injury leaves the Bucks working the phones to make a deal for a wing, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

This is really unfortunate news for both the Bucks and Middleton. He's coming off the best season of his career and was easily the Bucks' second best player during last season. He may have even been their best player for the first few months before Giannis Antetokounmpo had a monster second half. The combination of Middleton and Antetokounmpo was one of the bright spots of a disappointing 2015-16 season. The Bucks went from a scrappy playoff team in the previous year to winning just 33 games and not coming close to the playoffs. Their defense plummeted after being one of the best in the league in 2014-15.

Middleton was the team's leading scorer at 18.2 points per game and added 4.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds. His strong suit was outside shooting, knocking down 143 3-pointers and shooting 39.6 percent from deep. He's also a very good defender, making him one of the better 3-and-D wings in the NBA, but one who is also a pretty solid playmaker.
