We've got two words for you: Goalie fight!!!

Robin Lehner, the Senators goaltending prospect who has returned to the AHL's Binghamton Senators during the NHL lockout, found his crease under attack against the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday. He didn't take kindly to the scrum in his personal space, so he got punchy.

As we have learned over the years, when one goalie gets punchy, the other goalie gets punchy. So seeing Lehner taking off his mask and gloves to get in the fracas pulled Riku Helenius from the Syracuse net at the other end as if there were a gravitational pull taking him to the other goalie.

The result was the above video with great AHL play by play. "Here comes Helenius. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A GOALIE FIGHT! A GOOD, OL' GOALIE FIGHT!"

My favorite part? "Down goes Helenius! Cowabunga!" It's as if the announcer has gotten back into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles even though the new version on Nickelodeon is a disgrace to the old heroes in a half shell.

Goalie power!

On a side note, Helenius probably rethought his decision to cross center ice for that meeting. Lehner took it to him pretty good with some strong uppercuts.

The goalie fight is like a rare delicacy. On the one hand you'd like to see it more often but on the other it's infrequency keeps the novelty up and each one should be cherished. Thanks, Lehner and Helenius.
