  • Andreas Martinsen: Signs overseas

Martinsen signed a contract with EV Zug of the Swiss NLA League on Tuesday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.

Martinsen was on a two-way deal with the Ducks this season and was traded to Pittsburgh in October, but he never got a shot with the big club, accruing three points over 24 minor-league games. The Norwegian forward was placed on unconditional waivers to have his contract terminated Friday, and now he'll try finish the year overseas.

  • Andreas Martinsen: Waived unconditionally

Martinsen was placed on unconditional waivers by the Penguins on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Martinsen was brought in by the Penguins as part of the deal to move Erik Gudbranson and his contract. After registering just three points in 24 games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the organization has evidently seen enough and will move on from the winger.

  • Penguins' Andreas Martinsen: Bound for Steel City

Martinsen was acquired by Pittsburgh from Anaheim on Friday, along with a 2021 seventh-round pick, in a swap for Erik Gudbranson.

Martinsen will report to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the time being, but could be a recalled candidate later in the year. The winger has 152 games of NHL experience, in which he tallied nine goals, 14 assists and 160 shots. The move was less about Martinsen, who has just one year left on his two-way deal, and more about providing Pittsburgh with some cap relief by ditching Gudbranson's $4 million cap hit. Anything that organization can get out of Martinsen will likely be considered the cherry on top of the sundae.

  • Ducks' Andreas Martinsen: Heading to Anaheim

Martinsen signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Ducks on Friday.

Martinsen's most recent NHL action came before he was waived by Chicago on January 4. The Norwegian saw ice time in 24 games for the Blackhawks and logged four points, but was a healthy scratch for four of five games before being waived. Martinsen also saw action in 38 regular-season games for AHL Rockford last season, logging three goals and eight assists.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Waived by Chicago

The Blackhawks placed Martinsen on waivers Friday, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

Martinsen has been a healthy scratch for four of Chicago's last five games, and he only logged 4:14 of ice time in his lone appearance over that stretch, so this move doesn't come as a surprise. If the hard-nosed Norwegian goes unclaimed, he'll be assigned to AHL Rockford.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Notches first goal of season

Martinsen scored a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Penguins.

The Blackhawks' fourth line supplied some surprising offense in this one, with Martinsen picking up his first goal of the season in the process. The 28-year-old has never scored more than 11 points in an NHL season, so don't expect a repeat performance any time soon.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Healthy for Saturday's game

Martinsen (back) will play Saturday versus the Blue Jackets, Chris Wescott of the Blackhawks' official site reports.

Martinsen missed four games with a back condition and averaged just 6:57 over his only two outings of the season. In that time, he dished out five hits and recorded a minus-1 rating.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Remains unavailable

Martinsen (back) isn't in the projected lineup for Thursday's game against the Coyotes, NHL.com's Scott King reports.

Martinsen will miss a fourth consecutive game, and the Blackhawks have yet to release any information regarding a potential timetable for his return. Either way, the 28-year-old winger has only notched one goal in 11 NHL appearances over the past two seasons, so there's no reason for fantasy owners to track his availability.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Remains sidelined

Martinsen (back) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's matchup with the Blues.

Martinsen's back injury will force him to miss a third consecutive contest Saturday. The Norwegian winger will hope to return to action Thursday against the Coyotes.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Out versus Wild

Martinsen (back) didn't make the trip to Minnesota for Thursday's matchup, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.

The fact that Martinsen was able to at least get on the ice back in Chicago could open the door for him to return ahead of Saturday's clash with the Blues. In the winger's stead, Alexandre Fortin figures to make his NHL debut in a third line role.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Bothered by back injury

    Martinsen (back) won't practice Tuesday.

The Blackhawks have yet to release any details regarding the severity of Martinsen's injury, but their next contest isn't until Thursday in Minnesota, so he may not be forced to miss any game action. Either way, the gritty winger has gone scoreless while averaging just 6:57 of ice time through two games this campaign, so there's no reason for fantasy owners to keep tabs on his availability.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Secures extension

Martinsen inked a one-year contract extension with Chicago on Thursday.

Martinsen was brought in via trade on the eve of the 2017-18 campaign but saw action in a mere nine outings for the Blackhawks. Instead, the winger spent the bulk of the year in the minors with AHL Rockford, for which he notched 12 goals, 16 helpers and 62 PIM. The 27-year-old will likely get a shot at a roster spot during training camp, but there is certainly no guarantee he is in the Opening Night lineup.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Shipped back to minors

Martinsen was reassigned to AHL Rockford on Sunday.

The 6-foot-3, 229-pound forward is clearly cut out for a physical, bottom-six role. Martinsen solidified that thinking with a nine-game NHL stint that was highlighted by 35 hits and 17 PIM. The 27-year-old will be eligible for the Calder Cup Playoffs if AHL Rockford makes it.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Promoted to big club

The Blackhawks recalled Martinsen from AHL Rockford on Tuesday.

Anthony Duclair (knee) and Matthew Highmore (undisclosed) aren't expected to be available for Tuesday's matchup with Colorado, so Martinsen will likely round out the Blackhawks' depth up front against the Avalanche. The 27-year-old forward has totaled 12 goals and 26 points in 61 contests with AHL Rockford this campaign.

  • Blackhawks' Andreas Martinsen: Dealt to Chicago

The Canadiens traded Martinsen to the Blackhawks in exchange for Kyle Baun on Wednesday.

This is purely a swap of organizational depth players, as Martinsen and Baun will likely spend the entirety of the 2017-18 campaign with their new AHL affiliates.

  • Canadiens' Andreas Martinsen: Lands on waivers

Martinsen was placed on waivers by Montreal on Monday.

The Habs acquired the Norwegian bruiser via mid-season trade in 2016-17 and was subsequently signed to a one-year deal this summer, but at this point the team has decided he's best served as a depth option in the minors. Martinsen showed some offensive flair while playing in Europe, but that ability hasn't translated to the NHL, where he's tallied just 18 points in 119 games. Should Martinsen go unclaimed, expect him to be assigned to AHL Laval.

  • Canadiens' Andreas Martinsen: Inks one-year contract

Martinsen signed a one-year deal with the Canadiens on Monday.

Martinsen will stay in Montreal after coming over at the trade deadline in exchange for Sven Andrighetto. The 26-year-old saw action in just nine outings for the Canadiens, failing to secure a point while averaging a mere 9:38 of ice time. What sort of role coach Claude Julien envisions for the winger remains to be seen, but it is unlikely to be anything more than a bottom-six grinder.

  • Canadiens' Andreas Martinsen: Makes Montreal debut Saturday

Martinsen was activated Saturday and skated on the fourth line in Montreal's 4-1 win over the Rangers.

Martinsen joined Steve Ott to give Montreal a new look on the fourth line, a unit that played aggressively, was good on the forecheck, and threw its weight around. We don't expect much scoring from Martinsen, but he should be a regular on the fourth line going forward after showing more than either of his predecessors (Brian Flynn and Michael McCarron).

  • Canadiens' Andreas Martinsen: Traded to Montreal

Martinsen was dealt to Montreal on Wednesday, with Colorado receiving forward Sven Andrighetto in return.

The Canadiens wanted to improve their size up front, and they've done that on deadline day with the acquisitions of Martinsen and Dwight King. Martinsen won't do a lot offensively, as his seven points on the season will attest, but he'll certainly bring physicality to Montreal's bottom-six ranks, as he has 146 hits on the season.

  • Avalanche's Andreas Martinsen: Rarely contributing offensively

Martinsen has three goals and three assists in 51 games this season.

As such, the depth forward is about as irrelevant as they come for fantasy purposes. He's averaged less than 10 minutes of ice time (9:30) and has skated less than five minutes combined with the man advantage all season, so Martinsen can, and should, be avoided if at all possible. His 132 hits, however, could make him of value in the very deepest of formats, though even that's probably a stretch.
