Barcelona announced Monday that its players who were invited to the FIFA awards ceremony in Zurich would not attend, instead remaining in Spain to prepare for Wednesday's match against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey.

That means no Lionel Messi for the Best FIFA Men's Player award presentation. Some may see this as a concession, as Cristiano Ronaldo is the heavy favorite to take home the hardware.

Ronaldo, Messi and Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann are the finalists, but the Portuguese star is expected to run away with it after his unbelievable 2016 campaign, and it seems like Barca knows that.
