The 2016 non-waiver trade deadline falls on August 1 this year, meaning it's less than two weeks away now. We've already seen a handful of trades go down in recent weeks, most notably involving James Shields and Drew Pomeranz, and you can be sure many more moves are on the way.

To help you keep track of all the rumors and rumblings, we'll log the day's buzz right here, so make sure you check back often for the latest updates. Here's a look at Saturday's trade chatter.

Padres trying to trade Norris

Update: 11:45 p.m. ET

According to Jeff Passan, the Padres are "pushing hard" to move catcher Derek Norris. Though Norris is in the midst of a poor age-27 season, you to think the teams who miss out on Jonathan Lucroy will come calling. Norris had previously been a league-average or better hitter -- and one who didn't give it all back with his mitt. Additionally, he won't qualify for free agency until after the 2018 season, meaning he could fill a void for multiple seasons.

Rangers scout Volquez

Update: 11:10 p.m. ET

Knowing they need a rotation boost, the Rangers' "inner circle of front office personnel" went to Kansas City to watch Edinson Volquez pitch on Sunday, per Evan Grant. The Rangers have been tied to various starting pitchers, including most of the Rays' rotation. Yet Jon Daniels seems to be increasingly open to acquiring a rental type. Volquez, a potential free agent at season's end depending on what happens with his mutual option, would fit the bill. By the way, Volquez threw a quality start. That can't hurt his stock.

Mets interested in Lucroy

Update: 10:25 p.m. ET

The Mets are chasing after Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, according to Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News. Per Ackert, the Mets have already offered Travis d'Arnaud for Lucroy straight-up, but were rebuffed. The Brewers are said to be weighing offers from the Indians and Rangers, among other teams, so the Mets will have to up their offer to get a deal done -- much as they did last year for Yoenis Cespedes.

Chapman, not Miller the priority in New York

Update: 10:10 p.m. ET

The Yankees won't shift their focus onto trading Andrew Miller until if and when they finalize an Aroldis Chapman deal. That comes via ESPN.com's Buster Olney, who notes that Miller's contract runs through the 2018 season, giving the Yankees greater flexibility than they're enjoying with the soon-to-be free-agent Chapman. As such, it's possible the Yankees decide to hold onto Miller until the winter, or perhaps even longer.

Chapman deal contingent on extension talks?

Update: 9:20 p.m. ET

According to Rian Watt, the Aroldis Chapman trade could hinge on whether the Cubs are able to lock Chapman into an extension. Watt notes that he's heard the Cubs have an outstanding offer of four years and $60 million to Chapman, who would otherwise be eligible for free agency at season's end. Reportedly, the rest of the details -- including the prospects involved -- have been agreed upon.

Cubs nearing deal for Chapman?

Update: 8:35 p.m. ET

The Cubs are reportedly closing in on an Aroldis Chapman trade, according to Jon Heyman. The deal would include at least top shortstop prospect Gleyber Torres, as well as presumably another piece or two. The Cubs have been long rumored in Chapman's services, so this isn't too surprising of a development. We'll see if the two sides can finalize an agreement over the next 24 hours.

Marlins locked in on Hellickson?

Update: 7:36 p.m. ET

According to Nick Cafardo, the Marlins seem to have the most interest in trading for Jeremy Hellickson. The Fish could use a boost to their rotation, and Hellickson, who currently boasts a career-best strikeout-to-walk ratio, would seem to do the trick. Cafardo notes that Mike Dunn could be part of the return heading to Philadelphia. Presumably that's because Dunn's salary is about half of Hellickson's $7 million, which would help create the necessary budget room for Miami. The Fish are also tied to Ricky Nolasco, Tommy Milone, and Eduardo Rodriguez -- though Rodriguez seems like a long shot.

Greinke trade unlikely

Update: 7:15 p.m. ET

In case you've been wondering if the Diamondbacks might try moving Zack Greinke to get out from under his contract, the answer seems to be nah. Nick Cafardo talked to a source who said the Diamondbacks would demand "a great return of players" as well as full absorption of Greinke's $206.5 million contract. So, yeah, not happening.

Indians leading on Chapman?

Update: 2:35 p.m. ET

In the continuing saga that is the Aroldis Chapman rumor mill, Bruce Levine of The Score (Chicago) reports that the Indians have offered the best deal to the Yankees for Chapman. Levine adds, though, that the Nationals are also being very aggressive here.

Add Matt Moore to Miami's wish list

Update: 2:25 p.m. ET

The Marlins have already been connected to Padres starter Andrew Cashner in trade rumors, and now we can add Rays lefty Matt Moore to the list, per Jon Heyman. Moore is 6-7 with a 4.31 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and has allowed 20 homers, but he's had good success in the past and it's a pretty lackluster market for starting pitchers this deadline.

D-Backs will listen on Miller

Update: 2:05 p.m. ET

This past offseason, the Diamondbacks traded top overall pick Dansby Swanson along with pitching prospect Aaron Blair and outfielder Ender Inciarte for Shelby Miller. Miller is now in the minors after going 2-9 with a 7.14 ERA and 1.75 WHIP in 14 starts. He's still not even eligible for free agency until after the 2018 season, but ...

That would be like paying a premium price for stock and then selling it once it reached its absolute lowest point.

Giants out on Chapman

Update: 2:05 p.m. ET

We had heard the Giants in connection with Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman, but now it would appear they've been trimmed from the field. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants are getting "radio silence" from Yankees GM Brian Cashman in talks involving Chapman. Schulman further notes that the problem is the Yankees don't like the Giants' farm system.

So it would appear that Cashman is narrowing the field, even if nothing is imminent.

Latest on Chapman

Update: 1:05 p.m. ET

So it's apparently Chapman day in trade talk. Jack Curry of YES reports that "nothing is imminent" and that the Yankees are merely "fielding offers." So that sounds less aggressive than what we'd seen in other reports, where it sounded like a deal might be coming down the pike as soon as Sunday.

As for some of the teams involved. Andrew Baggarly of the Bay Area News Group says that the Giants feel like "the momentum is elsewhere." Might the Cubs or Nationals be the favorite? In a reversal from earlier, Jon Heyman now reports that the Yankees have been unimpressed with the Nationals' offers and he also throws a "Mystery Team" into the mix. Astros, maybe?

Seems plausible.

Stay tuned, obviously.

Cubs 'strong' on Chapman

Update: 11:15 a.m. ET

The rumor mill for the Yankees closer is swirling and the latest from Fox's Ken Rosenthal throws the Cubs in as a "strong" suitor. That's not all, of course, as Rosenthal secondarily mentions the Giants, Dodgers, Indians and Nationals (see below for more on the Nats/Chapman).

More teams in on Cashner

Update: 11:03 a.m. ET

Andrew Cashner of the Padres has been getting tons of interest after two good starts (which only moved his ERA down to 4.79). He's a free agent after the season, playing for a non-contender and it's a mostly-barren starting pitching market, so it makes some sense. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports names the Marlins and Astros are suitors and also throws in the Orioles, Tigers, Rangers and Giants as teams with interest.

#MysteryTeam for Chapman

Update: 10:23 a.m. ET

The focus right now for the Yankees appears to be dealing Chapman and reports indicate they'd like to wrap things up rather quickly on this front. Late Saturday, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reported the following:

An industry source told The Post that the Yankees had asked serious Chapman suitors -- a list believed to include the Nationals, the Cubs and the Indians, as well as a mystery team -- for their best and final offers. While that doesn't clinch a trade of Chapman, the impending free agent, it makes such a transaction darn likely. The Yankees intend to hold onto Miller, who is signed through 2018.

Mystery Team! I believe that's the first #MysteryTeam this trading season.

The Nationals might be zeroing in, however.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Nationals "could be a favorite, if not the favorite" and that the Yankees are interested in starting pitcher Joe Ross.

Though Ross is injured, this is a move that wouldn't necessarily signal the Yankees as sellers and instead helps to make their roster more well-rounded. With Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller, they already have late-inning, lock-down relief and a young, quality starting pitcher makes more sense than having Chapman.

Frazier on the move?

Update: 10:23 a.m. ET

We've heard plenty about Chris Sale the past several days, notably on Saturday with the heated trade rumors and him cutting up some throwback jerseys in protest of a collar, but now Todd Frazier's name has emerged in trade rumors. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe says that Frazier has "emerged as a major power piece" and mentions the Mets as a possible landing spot.

Frazier is hitting only .212 with a .300 on-base percentage, but he also has 28 homers and 64 RBI this season. With David Wright injured, the Mets have been using Jose Reyes at third base. Asdrubal Cabrera is at short. Keep in mind that Frazier has experience at first base, too. There's flexibility here.
