SIGNINGS & AGREEMENTS

Mets: Reportedly agreed to terms with SP Antonio Bastardo on a two-year, $12 million deal.

Padres: Reportedly agreed to sign veteran RP Fernando Rodney.

Red Sox: Avoided arbitration with RP Junichi Tazawa by signing him to a one-year, $3.375 million contract.

Tigers: Officially introduced OF Justin Upton on Wednesday.

RUMORS & SPECULATION

Yoenis Cespedes: While the White Sox, Mets, and Nationals are thought to be the leading contenders to sign the free agent outfielder, maybe the Yankees are entering the fray? Per MLB.com's Paul Hagen, here's what Yanks principal owner Hal Steinbrenner had to say on the subject of Cespedes' availability: "We're always looking to improve the club. I'm comfortable with where the payroll is now, but we're always looking to improve. You never know with us. We can surprise people."

Speaking of the Nationals, Fox's Ken Rosenthal writes that the Nats were in on Justin Upton and are now serious in their pursuit of Cespedes.
