Norwood Teague resigned as Minnesota's athletic director Friday, effective immediately, amid reports of sexual harassment.
The resignation stems from inappropriate texts Teague acknowledged sending.
"Norwood's resignation follows the report of two recent incidents of sexual harassment of two non-student university employees," said Minnesota president Eric Kaler.
Teague did not dispute that claim according to tweets from a KARE 11 News reporter.
Teague, a North Carolina graduate, became Minnesota's athletic director in April 2012. He was previously the AD at VCU, where he famously hired Shaka Smart. Teague hired Richard Pitino as the Gophers' basketball coach.
Minnesota deputy AD Beth Goetz will replace Teague on an interim basis.
According to KARE, Teague is planning to seek help for alcohol abuse.
