LOWELL, Mass. (AP) Rinardo Perry made four 3-pointers and scored a career-high 26 points and UMass Lowell defeated Cornell 98-78 on Sunday.

Jahad Thomas added 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and Ryan Jones 14 points. Matt Harris, Connor Bennett and Shawn Jones scored 11 points each.

Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field and 45 percent or better from the arc but Cornell gave up 30 points off 22 turnovers and the River Hawks used 15 offensive rebounds to score 25 second-chance points.

Matt Morgan led the Big Red (1-3) with five 3-pointers and 25 points. Stone Gettings added 13 points and Steven Julian nine points with 10 rebounds.

Perry scored 14 points and Thomas 13 in the first half when the River Hawks took a 43-33 lead. A 10-3 run with six points from Harris and four from Bennett gave Lowell a 64-48 lead that would remain in double figures.

The River Hawks, who have finished their transition to Division I begun in 2013-14, are 3-1 for the first time since 2012-13.
