Texas linebacker Steve Edmond found himself on the receiving end of a public reprimand from Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby Friday. Bowlsby was responding to comments Edmond made about Baylor following Texas' spring game last week.

“Mr. Edmond violated the Conference rule that prohibit coaches, student-athletes, athletic department staff and university personnel from making negative public comments about other member institutions,” said Bowlsby in a release. “Consistent with our standard for such violations he is being issued a public reprimand.”

There will be no suspension.

"We could have won the conference," said Edmond on April 19. "Even though I didn't get a chance to play in the Baylor game, I feel like we should have beat Baylor. I really don't like Baylor. I still think they're trash."

Edmond would later issue an apology for his comments, saying he was frustrated over not being able to play in Texas' 30-10 loss to Baylor, and that he "let all that anger build up and get the best of me."
