College football scores, NCAA top 25 rankings, Week 13: Clemson dominates, Texas A&M stifles LSU

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence returned to the field with purpose on Saturday as he played for the first time since Oct. 24 and racked up 403 yards passing in the No. 3 Tigers' 52-17 win over Pittsburgh. Lawrence missed two games after testing positive for COVID-19 and had his would-be return game against Florida State canceled last week.

Ultimately, Lawrence helped remind everyone of why Clemson is still in the College Football Playoff picture despite its loss to Notre Dame as the Tigers racked up nearly 600 yards of total offense and improved to 8-1, even after taking their foot off the pedal late in the game.

Things did not go as well for another set of Tigers on Saturday night. A year after walloping Texas A&M 50-7 on their way to a 15-0 season, LSU lost 20-7 to this No. 5-ranked Texas A&M team as the Aggies improved to 6-1 and kept their College Football Playoff hopes alive. Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond completed just 11 of 34 passes for 105 yards, but sophomore running back Isaiah Spiller surpassed 100 yards rushing for the fifth time this season to pace a dominant Aggies' rushing attack.

Beatdown

The comparison of passer ratings between Trevor Lawrence and Kenny Pickett explains a lot. It's 226-18, lol. Tigers up 38-3 midway through 2Q.

Coastal cruising

Mmmmm yep. Coastal Carolina is still good. Going to be 9-0 after this one. Just No. 20 in the rankings but a great season nonetheless. Expect to hear Jamey Chadwell's name more and more as jobs come open.

Extra motivation?

As if Clemson needed any more motivation to crush Pittsburgh, this play may have provided it. Tigers up 31-0 after one quarter.

Say what??

Things are getting really dire for No. 8 Northwestern really quickly against Michigan State.

Interesting...

1-3 Michigan State leads 5-0 and No. 8 Northwestern 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Clemson DOMINATING

Already 17-0 Tigers just midway through the first quarter. This looks like a team hungry to end any conversation about whether it belongs in the CFP.

Lawrence is back

After what seems like an eternity since he last played, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence hits E.J. Williams to put the No. 3 Tigers ahead 7-0 on Pitt. Here's the INT that set it up.

OK State survives

Texas Tech got back into it on this score late in a crazy game. But Dezmon Jackson clinched it for the No. 23 Cowboys with a third-down that allowed them to run out the rest of the clock. He had a monster game filling in for Chuba Hubbard...36 rushes, 235 yards, 3 TDs.

History made

Buffalo running back Jarret Patterson ties the FBS record with his eighth TD in a game.

Pitts returns

Kyle Pitts finished with 5 catches for 99 yards and three TDs in his first game back after missing a couple games. He was huge in helping Florida overcome a slow start and beat Kentucky 34-10.

Penn State finally wins

The Nittany Lions are 1-5 after getting the best of struggling Michigan today. Wolverines now 2-4. Just shocking how bad they both are.

Hoosiers rolling

No Penix, no problem. Indiana is rolling without its QB1 right now after Michael Penix Jr. left the game with an apparent lower leg injury. The Hoosiers' defense has been stout today vs. a Maryland team that had been getting things done through the air.

Records in view

Jarret Patterson is about to hit 300 yards. Already has six touchdowns. More than a quarter still to go in big MAC showdown on CBS Sports Network.

Michigan hanging

The Wolverines are back in it. This catch helped set up a TD early in the fourth quarter. 20-17 Nittany Lions ahead early in the fourth.

Getting dizzy

Can't keep up anymore, but there have been 34 -- I think -- points in the third quarter of Oklahoma State-Texas Tech. Cowboys up 41-31 late in the quarter.

Penix down

Michael Penix Jr. looked hobbled after running out of bounds near the goal-line just now. The Hoosiers promptly score to go ahead of Maryland 17-3. But Penix's injury is something to watch.

And right as I share that Texas Tech has gone up on Oklahoma State, the Pokes come right back with ... an onside kick return for a touchdown. Things are weird as hell in Stillwater.

Kyle Pitts AGAIN

His third TD catch of the day puts Florida ahead of Kentucky 31-10 in the third quarter. Thinking that Kentucky defender might be regretting the chirping he did before this one.

Back and forth we go in Stillwater. Ezukanma gets a drop in the bucket and takes it all the way for a touchdown. The Red Raiders are now back on top and Oklahoma State is officially in a battle.

So surprised

Stunned by this development in the Florida-Kentucky game. Kyle Pitts has two touchdown receptions!? In all seriousness, it's a good thing he's back, because he's been huge for the Gators today. UF up 21-10 on UK in 3Q.

Poor Michigan

The Wolverines can't even catch a break against 0-5 Penn State.

Sarah Fuller makes history as the first woman to play in a Power Five game. The Vanderbilt women's soccer player does a squib to start the second half.

This would probably explain Kadarius Toney's punt return right before the half.
