Through 3 Quarters

The Utah Utes were expected to take an 'L' in this one, but so far it isn't playing out to script. After three quarters it's looking more and more like their high-powered offense is just too much for the USC Trojans as the Utes lead 35-10.

Utah has been riding high on the performance of QB Cameron Rising, who has passed for two TDs and 272 yards on 25 attempts in addition to punching in one rushing touchdown. USC has been led by WR Drake London, who so far has caught 13 passes for one TD and 139 yards.

This is the least points the Trojans have had yet this season going into the fourth quarter.

What to Know

The Utah Utes have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. Utah and the USC Trojans will face off in a Pac-12 battle at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at United Airlines Field at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. These two teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.

The Utes bagged a 24-13 victory over the Washington State Cougars two weeks ago. Utah's RB TJ Pledger looked sharp as he rushed for one TD and 117 yards on ten carries. This was the first time Pledger has racked up 100+ rushing yards all year.

Utah's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed Washington State's offensive line to sack the QB eight times for a total loss of 59 yards. Leading the way was DE Van Fillinger and his three sacks. Those were the first sacks for Fillinger this season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for USC last week. They made easy work of the Colorado Buffaloes and carried off a 37-14 win. The victory came about even with the Trojans handicapping themselves with 125 penalty yards. USC QB Kedon Slovis was slinging it as he passed for three TDs and 276 yards on 29 attempts.

Special teams collected 13 points for USC. K Parker Lewis delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

The Utes are expected to lose this next one by 3. Currently 0-3 against the spread, they haven't been a good investment; on the other hand, the Trojans are 3-1 ATS.

Utah is now 2-2 while USC sits at 3-2. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Utah is ninth worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown three on the season. USC has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the game with the 221st most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown six on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
