What you need to know about BYU

The Cougars played well enough to pick up their first win in the post-Zach Wilson era with a neutral-site win over Arizona in Las Vegas, 24-16. Quarterback Jaren hall was solid and completed 64-percent of his passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. WR Neil Pau'u caught eight passes for 126 yards and those two scores.

Redshirt sophomore running back Tyler Allgeier picked up where he left off last season with a big day as well. He finished with 94 yards and a touchdown on 17 attempts. Cougars head coach Kalani Sitake looks like he has some things to work on with his defense, which allowed 426 yards of offense -- 345 of which came through the air to unproven Wildcats passer Gunner Cruz. BYU also failed to get much of a pass rush going, and got to Cruz just three times.

What you need to know about Utah

Utah blew past Weber State 40-17 in its season-opener last Thursday, and didn't face much resistance in any phase of the game. Utes running back Tavion Thomas looked sharp as he rushed for two touchdowns and 107 yards on 12 carries.

Grad transfer quarterback Charlie Brewer played the majority of the game after winning the preseason camp battle with fellow transfer Cameron Rising at the end of August. He completed 70 percent of his passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns in his debut for Utah. Redshirt junior linebacker Devin Lloyd led the charge on defense for the Utes, with 12 total tackles with two for a loss.
