The Hurricanes added Keane to the taxi squad from AHL Chicago on Friday.
Keane has recorded two goals and 13 assists in 29 AHL games this season. The defenseman doesn't figure to enter a game for Carolina unless multiple NHL regulars become unavailable for any reason.
