Jones dished out an assist in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Islanders. Jones picked up his sixth helper of the season on Kaapo Kakko's third-period insurance goal. After spending the majority of the season in the press box as the team's seventh defenseman, Jones has dressed in each of the last six games with Jacob Trouba (lower body) sidelined. Jones has seen sheltered minutes, but the skilled defenseman has held his own with two assists and a plus-3 rating during this six-game stretch. With Ryan Lindgren (lower body) potentially poised to miss time as well after exiting Sunday's win, Jones is unlikely to leave the lineup anytime soon.... See More ... See Less

Rangers' Zac Jones: Just one appearance in February
Jones watched Thursday's 5-1 win over the Devils from the press box and has been a healthy scratch since Feb. 5. Jones played in the Rangers' first game of the month as Jacob Trouba finished up a two-game suspension, but New York's seventh defenseman hasn't been called upon since that Feb. 5 win over the Avalanche. Jones remains stuck on five points in 17 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Memorable night in win
Jones scored a goal, added an assist and posted a plus-4 rating in Saturday's 7-2 win over Ottawa. It was his first goal of the season, and it was memorable -- he finished a cross-slot pass, and the goal stood as the winner. Jones has excellent offensive instincts, but it's been hard for him to crack the lineup this campaign. He also won't get any power-play time behind Adam Fox and Erik Gustafsson. Jones has five points, 19 shots on goal and 12 blocked shots in 16 appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Tacks on helper
Jones registered an assist in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Bruins. Jones is rounding out the blue line with Adam Fox (lower body) on long-term injured reserve. The Blueshirts have the option of turning to undrafted defenseman Connor Mackey as a reinforcement option, but he has yet to debut for the Original Six club, and Jones has more upside as a third-round (No. 68 overall) pick from the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Jones' point total is comprised of three assists through 10 games, which isn't all that bad for a guy averaging only 12:52 of ice time.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Likely to play Saturday
Jones could draw into the lineup Saturday against the Wild, as Adam Fox (lower body) was unable to finish Thursday's 2-1 win over the Hurricanes. Jones has been a spectator for all but one game during the Rangers' 8-2-0 start. In his lone appearance, the 23-year-old blueliner had four shots and a minus-2 rating in 12:30 TOI against the Blue Jackets on Oct. 14. A return timetable for Fox has yet to be established, but he'll likely miss at least one game after Carolina's Sebastian Aho went knee-on-knee on the star blueliner Thursday. If Fox is out of the lineup Saturday, Jones would be a candidate for ice time on the second power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Inks two-year extension
Jones, who was eligible to become a restricted free agent this summer, signed a two-year contract extension with the Rangers on Friday. Jones will carry an $812,500 annual cap hit, according to PuckPedia. The 22-year-old had a goal and two points in 16 contests with the Rangers last season. He also recorded eight goals and 31 points in 54 outings with AHL Hartford. Jones will compete for an NHL roster spot during training camp.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Sent to minors
Jones was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Saturday. Jones needs to be playing and that was not the case with the Rangers, as he had been a healthy scratch in six of the last 11 games. The 22-year-old has a goal and an assist in 16 NHL games and will now get a chance to get plenty of ice time in the AHL.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Not playing Friday
Jones is not in Friday's lineup against the Jets, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. It sounds like Jones will be a healthy scratch, but if he's dealing with any sort of injury, there should be more information on his status in the coming days. He averaged 13:57 of ice time during the first two games of the year.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Sent down Thursday
Jones was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Thursday, per CapFriendly. Jones played Wednesday versus the Canadiens as the Rangers opted to rest players ahead of the playoffs. The 21-year-old is unlikely to be a factor at the NHL level in the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Elevated from minors
Jones was called up from AHL Hartford on Wednesday. Jones has yet to score his first NHL despite playing in 21 games for the Rangers over the last two seasons. Despite the lack of goals, the 21-year-old blueliner has had some offensive success with six helpers, 19 shots and 12 hits in those outings. The addition of Jones could point to an injury among the Rangers' blueliners, though it could be simply a way to add more depth before the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Back to minors
Jones was demoted to AHL Hartford on Tuesday. Jones has dressed in the last three games for the Rangers, averaging 15:19 of ice time with one assist during that stretch. He could continue bouncing between the AHL and NHL levels for the rest of the season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Rejoins NHL squad
Jones was promoted from AHL Hartford on Thursday. Jones has just one point in eight NHL appearances this season. Either he or Libor Hajek will suit up in place of Patrik Nemeth (personal) against Washington on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Back to minors
Jones was demoted to AHL Hartford on Monday, per CBS Sports. Jones has registered a minus-3 rating with one assist through eight NHL appearances this season. The 21-year-old blueliner could continue shuffling between the AHL and NHL levels as needed.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Recalled from AHL
Jones was promoted from AHL Hartford on Sunday. Jones has averaged 13:55 of ice time and recorded one assist over six top-level performances this season. The 21-year-old has recorded 18 points over 24 appearances with AHL Hartford in 2021-22. He could add another NHL appearance as soon as Tuesday's game against Boston.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Headed to AHL affiliate
Jones was loaned to AHL Hartford on Thursday. Jones has appeared in three straight games with the Rangers, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him back with the big club following the All-Star break. He's picked up one assist through six NHL appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Returns to Hartford
The Rangers reassigned Jones to AHL Hartford on Sunday. The 21-year-old figures to rejoin the taxi squad sometime soon, as he's already had three different stints there since Dec. 28. Jones has no points in three NHL games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Assigned to AHL
Jones was reassigned to AHL Hartford from the taxi squad Friday. Jones has averaged 14:56 of ice time -- 1:19 during the power play -- and has been held without a point over three NHL appearances this season. The 21-year-old has recorded 17 points over 21 games with AHL Hartford in 2021-22.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zac Jones: Assigned to taxi squad
Jones was demoted to the Rangers' taxi squad Friday. Jones was demoted in order to make room for forwards Jonny Brodzinski and Tim Gettinger on the Rangers' active roster. Jones will likely return to the active roster once New York gets some players back from injuries and illnesses up front.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Zachary Jones: First career multi-point game
Jones dished out two helpers in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Washington. Jones picked up his first career multi-point effort in his eighth career NHL game. The 20-year-old rookie is an offensive-minded defenseman, so there should be more similar efforts in Jones' future as he gets acclimated to playing at the highest level.... See More ... See Less

Joe Fortunato@JoeFortunatoBSB2D agoThat said, even“off” all night the Rangers made it happen. Special teams was lights out. Shesterkin was a beast. Depth has carried the Rangers through the first two games. That’s fine. This team is built to run deep like this. It’s working

Joe Fortunato@JoeFortunatoBSB2D agoThat was … not a great ending. Some poor decision making. I actually think the Rangers played a really disjointed game, looked a little off. Granted the officiating was a disgrace, but that was a cardiac event at the end. Tighten it up

Joe Fortunato@JoeFortunatoBSB2D agoGood first period. Tough start, great response, and awesome to pop another in on the power play. Washington doesn’t want to chase games so another goal for the Rangers would be huge
