Oakland A's pitcher Jeremy Accardo has elected to become a free agent after clearing outright waivers, the team announced Thursday.

He was signed by the A's on Aug. 15 after being released by the Indians earlier that month. He pitched in only one game for Oakland, surrendering two earned runs in two innings.

He pitched in 26 games for the Indians this season, posting a 4.58 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 28 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings.

Accardo has saved 38 games in his career, 30 coming in the 2007 season with the Blue Jays.
