Blue Jays left-hander J.A. Happ was released from a St. Petersburg hospital the day after taking a line drive to the head off the bat of Desmond Jennings on Tuesday. Later, he was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Happ issued the following statement on Wednesday:

"I'm in good spirits. I definitely appreciate the support of the baseball community. It's been overwhelming, the messages and kind words I've been getting. I just want to thank everyone for that. And I look forward to getting back out there soon.''

As Happ made clear during his press conference, he did not suffer a concussion, and a CT scan showed no damage to his brain or spine. He did sustain a small skull fracture near his ear and received stiches on his ear. However, he said his injuries were neither serious nor threatening. Happ also sprained his right knee while falling after being struck by the ball. At this point, Happ's knee injury will require treatment and not surgery.
