By now, you've undoubtedly heard about Thursday night's shooting in Dallas that left 12 police officers (as well as two civilians) wounded or dead. On Friday, baseball -- specifically the Texas Rangers organization -- reacted to the senselessness with some kindness.
Rangers prospect Joey Gallo posted a tribute to one of the slain officers on his Instagram account. As it turns out, Gallo and fellow Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara had met officer Patrick Zamarripa a few months back, when Zamarripa requested a picture.
Here's the photo along with what Gallo wrote:
Meanwhile, the Rangers' Double-A affiliate -- the Frisco RoughRiders -- are wearing Dallas Police Department hats the next two nights, then auctioning them off and donating the profits to the Assist the Officer Foundation:
Frisco will wear the DPD hats tonight and tomorrow night, auctioning them off at the end of every evening, benefitting Assist The Officer.

No gesture will undo the damage done on Thursday. Still, here's hoping the gestures by the Rangers and all others will help the families and communities affected heal bit by bit.
