Being a major league baseball player is really good work if you can get it. The pay is excellent, you get to travel all around the country, and hey, you're playing a kid's game for a living. It's a sweet gig.

Getting the big leagues is not so glamorous, however. Especially if you aren't a high draft pick or international bonus baby. Yankees minor league catcher/first baseman Jake Hernandez signed with the team as an undrafted free agent out of USC last summer, so he didn't come into pro ball with a big bonus to support himself financially.

On Thursday, Hernandez tweeted out a photo of a recent paycheck. The total: a whopping $0.75. Yes, 75 cents. The tweet has since been deleted, but the internet never forgets. Pinstripe Alley grabbed a screen cap:

I have no idea what the $0.75 covers. Hopefully it's the pro-rated portion of ... something. Five seconds of Instructional League workouts, maybe.

By the way, several ex-minor league ballplayers recently sued MLB claiming they don't pay minor leaguers enough. Hopefully they win and everyone in the minors gets a raise. It's not like the teams can't afford it.

Now let's wrap up with another photo from Hernandez's Twitter feed (@jdez_13):
