Luke Scott hopes the Tampa Bay Rays exercise his $6 million option so that he can return to the club in 2013, according to MLB.com's Bill Chastain.

Chastain also writes that Rays executive VP of baseball operations Andrew Friedman says the team has not decided what it will do with Scott and his option.

The 34-year-old spent two stints on the disabled list this season, resulting in the designated hitter playing in only 96 games. It was the second consecutive season in which Scott failed to play at least 100 games.

He hit .229/.285/.439 with 14 home runs 344 plate appearances in 2012.
