The Dodgers have swung a deal for Marlins third baseman Hanley Ramirez, CBSSports.com's Scott Miller reports.

Ramirez will head to L.A. along with lefty reliever Randy Choate (2.49 ERA, 25.1 IP) in exchange for 22-year-old right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (4.15 ERA in 56.1 IP) and minor-league reliever Scott McGough (3.88 ERA in 46.1 IP at High-A Rancho Cucamonga).

CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman reports that Ramirez is likely to play short until Dee Gordon at returns from injury. Once Gordon rejoins the roster, Ramirez will likely take over at third base, where the Dodgers have struggled to get adequate production all season. Thus far, Dodger third basemen -- chiefly Juan Uribe -- have combined to hit .246/.306/.369. Ramirez, meanwhile, has a slash line of .246/.322/.430 with 14 home runs.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that no money will be changing hands in the trade, which means that the Dodgers will be on the hook for the remainder of Ramirez's $15-million salary for 2012 and the total of $31.5 million he's owed for 2013 and 2014.
