The Phillies have gotten more intense in their pursuit of free-agent outfielder Cody Ross, according to FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.

The Phillies currently are projected to have Domonic Brown and John Mayberry atop the depth chart at the corner outfield spots, though the team has been looking to upgrade.

Rosenthal notes that other teams have also stepped it up for the soon-to-be 32-year-old right fielder. Previous reports have indicated that the Mariners, Braves and Red Sox have had interest in Ross this offseason.

The right-handed-batting Ross hit .267/.326/.481 with 22 home runs in 528 plate appearances for the Red Sox in 2012, posting his best stat line since becoming a full-time starter with the Marlins in 2008.
