SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Rangers look like they have a superb team on paper, but even they are still doing a bit of fine-tuning.

Their two most likely moves would be to trade one of their two righthanded relievers, either Koji Uehara or Mark Lowe, and to pick up a righthanded-hitting platoon-type outfielder. Those could be done in one move or two.

Competing teams say Uehara isn't a giveaway despite a rough time with Texas last year after beginning so well in Baltimore, because the Orioles are still paying half of his $4 million salary. The Orioles and A's are among teams that have shown some interest. Texas had a deal in place with the Blue Jays, but Uehara, who has six teams on his no-trade list, nixed it before complaining that he wished he'd know already whether he's being traded.

The Rangers have perhaps as much talent as any team, top to bottom. But they'd like a righty hitting outfielder who could share time with David Murphy.
