News of Zack Greinke's agreement to sign with the Dodgers for six years and $147 million broke late Saturday night, but the deal is never official until a team announces it as such. And Monday night that happened, in the form of a press release from the Dodgers.

“As we set out this offseason to add a front line pitcher who is capable and proven, Zack was the one we zeroed in on,” said general manager Ned Colletti in a statement. “We are very pleased to add a second pitcher who has won a Cy Young award to this rotation and organization. We believe he brings a lot to this team and to a pitching staff that was already very good.”

Greinke, 29, went 15-5 with a 3.48 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 200 strikeouts in 212 1/3 innings last season for the Brewers (21 starts) and Angels (13 starts). He is 25-9 with a 3.67 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 49 career National League starts.

The 2009 AL Cy Young winner was the top free agent starting pitcher on the market.
