Lalli signed a minor league contract with the Braves on Tuesday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.
Lalli elected free agency earlier this month after being designated for assignment by Atlanta, but he opted to wind up back in the organization rather than fully test the market. Lalli will likely head back into an organizational depth role for the rebuilding franchise.

Lalli's performance at Triple-A Gwinnett wasn't very impressive this year as he posted a .256/.301/.328 line. However, with A.J. Pierzynski landing on the disabled list with a strained hamstring, Lalli is headed up to the majors to add depth at catcher for the Braves.

Lalli was reassigned to minor league camp Wednesday.
Lalli was in big league camp as a non-roster invitee, but he was a long shot to make the Braves' roster with AJ Pierzynski and Tyler Flowers already entrenched as the catchers for the major league club. Lalli will head to the minors to act as organizational depth behind the plate, but could be back with Atlanta if either of the major league catchers gets injured.

Braves' Blake Lalli: Signs minor league deal with Braves
Lalli signed a minor league contract with the Braves last week, Baseball America reports.
According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, Lalli will attend major league camp for spring training as a non-roster invitee, but the team intends to pair him with Ryan Lavarnway at Triple-A Gwinnett to start the season. The 32-year-old Lalli has made 40 plate appearances at the highest level, the last of which came back in 2013.
